NASA plans to rename the names of some offensive space objects. This is stated on the website of the space agency. In particular, we are talking about the planetary nebula NGC 2392, which is called the Eskimo Nebula. The agency said that “the word ‘Eskimo’ is viewed as a colonial term with a racist history, imposed on the indigenous peoples of the Arctic regions.”

Also, the term “Siamese twin galaxy” will no longer be used to refer to a pair of spiral galaxies NGC 4567 and NGC 4568.

NASA officials want to avoid unwanted historical or cultural connotations. Earlier NASA reported about the approach of the huge asteroid “Apollo” to the Earth. The diameter of the celestial body is from 84 to 190 meters. The closest approach to the Earth occurred on August 5.
