The wife of the Dutch ambassador to Lebanon, Hedwig Waltmans-Moliere, who was seriously injured in an explosion in Beirut, died on Saturday, August 8, at the age of 55, the country’s Foreign Ministry said.

“On Saturday 8 August, she died of her wounds sustained in a powerful explosion in Beirut on 4 August. We are deeply saddened by the untimely death of our colleague Hedwig Waltmans-Moliere <...> Our thoughts are with her husband, their children and other family members. We sympathize with them and wish them strength to cope with this great loss, ”the foreign ministry said in a statement.

On August 6, a Russian hospital began operations in the Lebanese capital. It operates around the clock in case of emergency patients discovered during search operations by rescuers. It is noted that the tasks of the hospital were determined jointly with the Lebanese authorities.
