A criminal case of abuse of power and fraud was opened against Moscow police officers who tried to plant drugs. On Sunday, August 9, RBC reports with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies.

According to journalists, three police officers stopped the car at the end of June under the pretext of checking documents. After that, they “illegally conducted” a body search of two of the four passengers and threw a “bag with white powder” into one of them, which later turned out to be a narcotic substance.

As a result, a dispute arose between the parties and the police officers “inflicted bodily harm” on citizens, and then “by deception received 300 thousand rubles” from a passenger who was planted with drugs in order to avoid criminal liability.

According to the interlocutors of RBC, a criminal case was opened against the police on several articles: “abuse of office with the use of violence or with the threat of its use, as well as with the use of weapons or special means” and “fraud committed by a person using his official position.”

In particular, police officers face from three to ten years in prison for exceeding their powers, and the maximum punishment under the fraud article is six years in prison.

In June, Rosgvardia, having examined all the circumstances of the case, fired its employee after a video with threats to plant drugs on a Muscovite.
