In St. Petersburg, Smolny convened a Technical Council with the participation of representatives of the Mining University, profile committees of the city administration, design organizations and JSC Metrostroy. This is due to the information that has appeared that the subsidence of soil due to the equipment of the central hall of the Teatralnaya metro station may be uncontrollable.

Vice-Governor Maxim Sokolov said that at first it was decided to build a lobby, which is located at a distance from the building of the Mariinsky Theater, from the side of Lermontovsky Prospekt. The decision to build a lobby from the side of Teatralnaya Square, which the artistic director of the Mariinsky Theater Valery Gergiev is worried about, will be made taking into account the results of the study.

According to Sokolov, quoted by the 78 TV channel, the authorities understand and realize the importance of this place and its special role and will do everything possible to exclude or minimize the risks associated with the construction of the metro. So far, all work is on schedule. Work on inclined passages and vestibules was not started.

Earlier, Valery Gergiev expressed concern that, in connection with the construction of the station, the space of Teatralnaya Square may change. He believes that it should be preserved in the same form as 150 years ago.

Earlier it was reported that by January 20, 2022, in St. Petersburg, they should complete the planning of the territory for the continuation of the Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya metro line. It was decided to postpone the preparation of the Kamenka metro station project for two years.
