In some federal states, schooling is back on track. Lessons again take place entirely in classrooms and not at home on computers. As it turned out according to the results of a survey of the Institute for Social Research and Statistical Analysis forsa, 66% of Germans welcome the restoration of a normal system.
Just two weeks ago, only 54% of the population were in favor of canceling distance learning. Residents in the eastern federal states and the older generation are especially active in favor of a return to classical education.
Schoolchildren in Schleswig-Holstein, Berlin and Brandenburg returned to classes on Monday. In the last week, training continued in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Hamburg.
According to forsa, only 30% of Germans believe that most schools will be better prepared for distance learning in the event of a new quarantine than they were before the coronavirus crisis. At the end of July the figure was 37%.
This Wednesday, students in North Rhine-Westphalia will be the first to attend masked lessons. The introduction of the obligation to wear masks until the end of the summer holidays will be discussed in the government of Bavaria. The meeting is to take place on September 1st.
